Title: Cold Streets
By: Jamie Giorla
Year: 2009
In my interpretation of the Shaping Meaning project, I decided to create a digital piece using Photoshop. In this work entitled Cold Streets, I am exploring my sense of place by depicting the street I live on during the cold winter. Living in the city of Philadelphia can be an overwhelming experience. One can be on a crowded street and at the same time feel completely alone. It was my goal to evoke this feeling within my work by depicting an image of a lonely city street with a nameless person walking alone.
Questions:
Where is your sense of place?
How does it make you feel?
What mood comes to mind when you think of your sense of place?

I love this snow scene...is it from the last snowstorm? It has a very calm, quiet feel because of the light and the blanketing of the snow.
